On the morning of Saturday 12 September, seven leading experts from six countries gathered at London’s ExCeL exhibition center during the 44th Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) to receive the prestigious ZEISS AT LUCIA Toric Pioneer Award for their pioneering role in introducing a new intraocular lens technology. This year’s ESCRS Congress was one of the world’s largest meetings in the field, attracting over 17,000 participants from 135 countries. The Czech Republic was also represented among the award recipients by Andrea Janeková, Head of Cataract, Refractive and Vitreoretinal Surgery at Prague Eye Centre. This spring, she became the first surgeon in the world to successfully implant this new lens in a patient suffering from cataract and astigmatism.

She has over 22 years of experience in banking, focusing on large corporate clients, the development of strategic partnerships and support for both domestic companies and the public sector. Having previously helped shape KB’s business and product strategy, she is now returning to direct client work. Her main goal is to strengthen the solid position and strong reputation of KB’s corporate banking business.

Last year, when the organizers of the Insurance Company of the Year Awards introduced a new category modelled on Western countries – Underwriting Team of the Year – the insurance industry eagerly awaited who would win the very first title in the Czech Republic. “We are proud that it was our team who received this prestigious award. Underwriting of industry risks is the showcase of every insurance company and reflects not only high professional expertise, but also great teamwork and cooperation with clients and brokers,” says Michal Krajčovič, Head of Industry Risks Insurance Division at ČPP, at the outset of our interview. A few days ago, ČPP also won the gold medal for industrial and business insurance awarded by brokers as part of the Insurance Company of the Year Awards.
